[Journal Club] Hard X-ray excess from nearby neutron stars

In this Journal Club talk, I will discuss results two recent companion pre-prints 1910.02956 and 1910.04164. The first paper discusses evidence of hard (few keV) X-ray excess over thermal emission from nearby neutron stars by analyzing archival XMM-Newton and Chandra data. The second paper discuss the implication of such excess on axion-like particles.
